Downtown Low Down

November 12th, 2008

Better late then never but the 2008 Downtown Throw Down came through Seattle and the Louie team was there in full force.

Which meant the Louie Louie Mansion was packed full of young shreds and their lady friends, ever seen a flop house where people tie up and shoot heroin? Well if you have recreated that seen in your mind minus the hard drugs and add in sweaty socks.

Louie Louie team riders: Jake Olson-Elm, Jordan Michilot, Jonas Michilot, and good friend Zac Marben all came through and stayed the weekend. I’m not usually to hyped on my friends brining their girlfriends with them when the weekend is supposed to consist of skating and snowboarding, but Kara and Rachael where a pleasure and didn’t even get mad at us once for making them hangout at the skate park.

The weekend was full of your normal tourist activities, but what really made it special was having the gang at the house just jamming out on music, eating good food, and sharing laughs. I know its cliché but we are a family and we had a blast hanging and being dirt balls. The contest and if you want more information on it check out the snowboard media outlets. I will tell you Jake got Best Trick, Jonas got second, and Zac got fourth, all in all a success.

Just want to say thank you to the dudes supporting our shit, we are maybe the worst sponsor in snowboarding, but everyone on the team is still down, and that my friends is the bees knees.

Jordan in fine form.

Zac, Jake and Jonas.

Cal Surf Party

Urban Business Festival

June 3rd, 2008

Louie Louie

When you know somebody that knows somebody you sometimes get invited to certain places. So with our first samples ever Louie Louie was invited to take part in the Urban Business Festival, put on by the University of Washington. Our table was set right next to Snowboard Connections and our friend Kenji was working the event with them, so most of the time we just sat there and made fun of people, and ate fried chicken. We sold a couple shirts, handed out some business cards, but mostly just skated around talked to people we already knew and talked shit.

Kenji, Kyle and Pete. K2 and Snocon in the house.

Grieves

The highlight of the day was when Grieves and his newly appointed DJ Coco Loco aka Murder Dice played their set. They mostly just said weird shit and told inappropriate stories for a college event, which means we were instant fans. The best part had to be Coco Loco screaming over Grieves verses and then telling everyone over the PA system that he would be going to the bar to do body shots and any females in attendance where welcome to join him. Keep in mind this was two in the afternoon. We want to thank everyone for having us out to the event, and we hope to see you guys out there next year.

Don’t hold us accountable for proof reading our posts we didn’t go to college.

Jonas Michilot visit with Transworld!

May 14th, 2008

Jonas Michilot did us the good deed of blessing us with his presence last week. Jonas brought along his good friends Nick Dirks, Tim Eddy, and late addition Louif Paradis. Since Jonas is a team rider he got the extra bedroom in the two-bedroom apartment we call our head office, and the rest off the dudes set up man camp in the living room. The dudes where all coming off a recent mission and smelled a little like wet socks, they all seemed relieved to see a washer and dryer, and put that thing to work.

We had a blast eating at my normal breakfast haunt, I don’t want to give away the location, but they where all pumped on the fresh fruit bar that comes standard with all pancake orders. I can barely put down one and half of the fruit topped cakes. Tim stepped to those things like a lumber jack and handled three and half pancakes all topped with tons of fruit, whipped cream, and syrup! We headed out and spent a day thrift store treasure hunting and taking in some of the wonderful Pike Place Market scenery.

The boys had to skin out the next day for an RV trip to wrap up filming for Transworld Snowboarding’s new video. Even though the French Canadian rail machine got me sick, I headed up to Snoqualmie to spend a day lapping the park with the whole Transworld cast. It was sick seeing Chad Otterstrom, Robbie Walker, Jonas Carlson, Lucas Debari, and the boys mentioned above kill the park and snowboard in the good old Washington state rain. While I had to retire back to my bed with a cold, the boys will soon set their sites on Mt. Hood for some spring jump fun. Make sure you get behind this video; it’s going to be one of the best yet.

Jake Olson Elm Japanese Warrior

May 8th, 2008

We recently caught up with Louie Louie team rider Jake Olson-Elm, and talked to him about what his season looked like and how sweet beer vending machines are. Jake was on a terror this year lighting up the handrails of Minnesota and bringing his talent to far off locals such as Korea and Japan. The talk of Jakes talent is spreading through snowboarding like a wild fire, but the best part of the story is that it’s not only his talent people talk about; but also his character.

Jake: Are you writing this down?
LL: Yeah we will start right now
Jake: Oh God.

LL: Did you ride anything besides handrails this year?
Jake: Yeah I rode powder at Yellow Stone Club with Anthony Cappetta, Zach Snow, and Jaime Thomas.

LL: Isn’t that the private place for yuppies?
Jake: It’s a super nice private place, and it snowed everyday we where there, it was rad.

LL: Did you see Bill Gates there!?
Jake: I did not see Bill Gates there; if he where in town I would have called him and said what’s up though.

LL: How was your recent trip to Japan?
Jake: Japan was a blast!

LL: Did they have those, beer huh…
Jake: Vending machines?

LL: Yeah! Did you hit those up!?
Jake: Huh…

LL: Did you hit them up or what?
Jake: I got to put this down; I’m in the middle of playing a video game I’m zoning out (long pause.)

LL: Did you hit the beer vending machine or what!!?
Jake: (laughs) Oh we hit it, they also had sake vending machines!

LL: Did you make out with any Japanese girls?
Jake: No, but I kissed one!

LL: Like just a peck on the lips or something?
Jake: Yeah, I gave her a kiss goodbye when we left, we where staying at her dojo. Sparks flew between us and I gave her a kiss goodbye.

LL: Who started wearing tight pants first you or Joe Sexton?
Jake: (laughs) What!?
LL: This is what’s blowing up on the Transworld Snowboarding message boards right now.
Jake: I’m not going to answer that (Jake is clearly uncomfortable with the question.)
LL: You have to answer it.
Jake: I look like an idiot no matter what I say (laughs) huh….John Hodge started wearing them first.

LL: Do you think you’re famous in Japan now?
Jake: No absolutely not.

LL: What’s going to be the next hot fashion trend for next year?
Jake: I can’t say.
LL: Call it!
Jake: It’s a secret.
LL: Just give us a taste, not the whole kit.
Jake: It’s just going to get dirtier.

LL: When’s Signal going to turn you pro?
Jake: Hopefully not for a long time, like five more years.
LL: You want to be a full-blown man am?
Jake: I’d rather be am then pro right now.

LL: What if we turn you pro, like for clothing?
Jake: (laughs) Yeah that works.

LL: Welcome to the big leagues!!!
